Computer science is no more about computers than astronomy is about telescopes.

Edsger Wybe Dijkstra

This Dijkstra quotation highlights the difference between information technology (IT) and computer science. Computer science is not about short-lived acronyms, this or that middleware or product, or the latest of countless, essentially identical computer languages. Computer science is about concepts, methods, algorithms, architecture.

Of course this only benefits you if computer science finds solutions to your problems by using well-established and — naturally — current technology. However, it should be kept in mind that all hypes, fancy acronyms, and brand-new computer languages ultimately are founded on long-standing concepts, methods, algorithms, and architectures.

Therefore we do not claim to follow each of the mostly short-lived and redundant new technologies, we rather solve the problems of our customers and acquire island technologies when necessary.
